finally, the payoff of facebook

Last night I had a really great surprise when I checked my Facebook page. A friend of mine that I have known since the 1st grade had sent me a message. We went to school together from 1st grade through our sophomore year of high school when her mom moved to Florida and she had to transfer schools. The first year or so after she left we wrote letters back and forth but as time went on the letters became less frequent until they stopped all together. Over the past 12 years or so I have tried to find her. I checked old phone numbers, email and mailing addresses, reunion websites and I even Googled her. Nothing. I always came up empty.

Well, she was online last night when I got the message and we were able to chat for a while. She said she has tried to reconnect with our old group of friends throughout the years as well but never got anywhere. I found out her family has since moved back to Louisville and she visits them a couple times a year. It was so nice to finally hear from her and now we have plans to get together next time she's in town.
