Well, we are in the middle of an ice storm that has taken out power to thousands of homes across the state. I am fortunate enough to still have my electricity and knock on wood, I hope that doesn't change. There hasn't been any power at my office since Tuesday so I have been off work pretty much all week. You would think I'd be excited about this little winter break but I am hourly and haven't hit my one year mark with the company yet so these last four days are all unpaid. Depending on how soon I can get back to work I'm unsure if I'll be able to make these hours up.
There is so much ice on the trees that branches are breaking and falling when the wind blows. It's very eerie at night when I let the dogs out before going to bed. No traffic, no noises. Only that of the ice cracking and the trees creaking then sometimes you can hear a distant swoosh and thump as the branches fall to the ground. In fact a couple of days ago I was shoveling the sidewalk and heard the above mentioned noises only they sounded a little too close. After walking around the back of the house I found a tree branch on my car.

Luckily, only the lighter ends of the branch were on my car and the inch or so of ice on there help protect from any scratching. Once I thawed out my vehicle and trimmed away some of the debris I began the painstaking task of backing up into a new spot. I didn't have anywhere that I needed to go, I was really just bored and looking for something to do.

These two pictures are from one of the neighbors back yards. Lots of cleanup in the future!
